The Village of Sequel

The Village of Sequel

It takes a lot to put a project like Sequel together.

It takes a lot of heart. It takes a lot of learning. It takes a lot of community.

We put out the call for authors back in October of 2024, and in February of 2025, we picked our brand new roster of writers. We had such a hard time choosing from all the quality submissions, that we upped our anthology limit to six, instead of five.

We spent the rest of 2025 writing, editing, canvassing for artists, and growing this little village of writers, artists, and fans.

We gave feedback on each other's work. We hyped each other up. We cheered each other on in personal projects. We made friendships. People who would have otherwise remained perfect strangers travelled to meet one another. I hope to hear ten years from now, that this amazing team stayed in touch and continues to support one another.

Debut was something special from our hearts, but Sequel was something miraculous, and social, and innovative in making the world of publishing feel a little less lonely.

April 2nd was our official launch day. It was also the day we picked up our 500 book print run from our printers, Houghton Boston based out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Spud Pub's Chenise Puchailo, and generous author Chandra Fisher showed up with hearty minivan, and humble sedan (two vehicles to save the suspension), and loaded up 20 boxes of books.

And so begins the next part of our journey with Sequel. If you see us at any of the upcoming events, say hi! Buy a book! Support this amazing project, and amazing community we have built. Ensure we can do it again, and again, and again, for many years to come as this is a project we have no intention of stopping.

If you see our creators, give them some love too. They are all talented, earnest, and genuine people who are passionate about what they do, and we've never been so honoured to work with such a phenomenal team. If you do buy a book, make sure you catch all those signatures!
